The Transit van range is the most popular LCV family in the UK, but this success comes at a price, because with so many near identical models on the road, it is too easy for these vehicles to blend in with the background.

For businesses that want to make an impact in a competitive marketplace, this might be a problem. So to address this, Ford has revealed the new Transit Custom Colour Edition, which will be available as part of a limited run of 400 vans that boast especially unusual exterior aesthetics.

Buyers will be able to pick between one of four variants of the Transit Custom Colour Edition, according to Business Vans. And it is not just a new lick of paint which has been applied but also changes made to various other features.

400 Colour Editions Coming to the UK

From its chunky alloy wheels to its colour-coded bumpers and contrasting roof hue, the Colour Edition certainly lives up to its name. Even the wing mirrors have been taken into account as part of this mini facelift, while attractive stripes down either side will definitely give it a distinctive appearance that will catch the eye of people in the street - unlike the anonymous white vans that are so common on our roads.

The target audience for this model includes small businesses, sole traders and artisanal operatives who believe that image is important and want to make a statement with the van they use.

Ford spokesperson Hans Schep explained that the Colour Edition and the accompanying Sport series are intended to meet the demands of customers who do not find a traditional white Transit van to be adequate for their branding needs. He also said that for owners who will also be harnessing their van for personal use, the stylish design would make it easy for it to shrug off its commercial associations when required.

With only 400 versions of the Colour Edition set to land in the UK next year, buyers will have to scrabble to ensure that they are able to snap one up. The only Transit Custom variants which will be available in this range are SWB models with standard height roofs and 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel engines under the bonnet.

More Models Being Added to the Transit Custom Sport Range

Ford has also announced this week that it will be adding more models to the Transit Custom Sport range, expanding upon the existing SWB offerings with a number of other wheelbase lengths and body types.

17- or 18-inch alloys can be specified for this family of flagship vans, while the inclusion of new safety features and anti-roll capabilities means that they are designed to be both sportier and more stable.

Interior improvements include the presence of the SYNC solution for smartphone connectivity and infotainment, a premium trim and attractive upholstery. Ford has even adjusted the suspension set-up so that the ride is a little more comfortable even when the van is fully laden, making the Transit Custom Sport an even more attractive proposition for van buyers in 2017 and beyond.
