Fiat Fiorino

Fiat has just announced details about the updates that are coming to the Fiorino range of vans this year, with highlights such as a new Euro 6 compliant engine and enhanced safety capabilities on the cards for 2016, according to Auto Express.

In optimal conditions the Fiorino should be able to achieve 74.3 miles to the gallon on a combined cycle, with the EcoJet engine coming with start-stop technology to make it as efficient as possible. This is further assisted by the Comfort-Matic gearbox, which means that it can use up to 14 per cent less fuel than its manual stable mate.

Because of this, buyers may be compelled to pick the automatic version of the Fiorino if they are looking for the ultimate in low emissions and economy. And the range as a whole is well equipped to meet expectations of what a modern van should offer.

Redesigned Inside and Out

The load area offers up to 2.8 cubic metres of space, while the maximum payload capacity sits at 660kg, which is impressive for a relatively small commercial vehicle. Meanwhile, new exterior styling touches are present up front, making sure that the Fiorino fits in with the rest of Fiat’s van range.

On the inside it is possible to specify the inclusion of an infotainment system which is controlled via a five-inch touchscreen display, offering digital radio capabilities along with Bluetooth for wireless communications and auxiliary inputs as well.

Leather trim on the steering wheel and gear stick is available, while the dash has been redesigned to give it a fresher look, complete with eye-catching text and graphics.

The standard iteration of the Fiorino is being joined by the Adventure edition, which is a rough and tough model that can cope with off-road use thanks to enhanced traction control, a locking differential, raised suspension and a beefed-up front bumper.

Safe and Convenient

Various systems work together to make the Fiorino both safe and convenient to drive on urban roads as well as motorways. It comes with ABS and EBD, as well as hill-start and hill-holder assists to enhance stability and practicality levels.

Airbags for the driver and passenger are available, as are side airbags to reduce the likelihood of an impact causing injury. Fiat has a good track record of making its vans as safe as possible, and the new Fiorino is no exception.

The doors at the rear can open a full 180 degrees, while the sliding door at the side gives easy access to the load area in any situation. Buyers can add optional retracting capabilities to the passenger seat, boosting the volume further, or fold the seat flat so that it can double up as a work surface for filling out forms or accommodating a laptop.

Pricing for the UK version of the new Fiorino will be announced later this month, along with a full set of specifications for the range that Fiat claims is the originator of the small van market as it exists today.
