2012 Model Ford Ranger Review

Ford Ranger 2012 Model

Ford Ranger 2012 Model

The Ranger was originally previewed at the Australian Motor show in October 2010.  As one of Ford’s global vehicles, it didn’t arrive in the UK until 2012.

Packed with new technology, the 2012 model year Ranger even has a rear view camera system and voice control. It is sold with three different types of cab and comes in a choice of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive and two different heights.

The 2012 model Ranger is driven by two new common rail Ford Duratorq TDCi diesels linked to 6-speed auto and manual gearboxes. The first, a 2200cc rated at 150PS and the second – a whopping 3200cc 200PS beast. With the modern 4x4 technology, drivers are able to select the driving configuration from a switch on the dashboard.

The 2012 model Ranger is longer than the model it replaced and has a wider axle track, but still maintains a useable turning circle to help for the urban off-roaders.  The suspension at the back of the Ranger is all new – it can cope with full loads and still manages to perform on and off road. ESP comes as standard, which includes yaw control and a system to help keep a trailer under control.  Looking after the occupants, the Ranger has curtain airbags as standard all round.

The 2012 model Ranger is 10cm wider than the current model – not quite wide enough for a Euro pallet, but the load area does have some nifty load features that mean that sheets can be loaded flat.

The full specifications are detailed below for anyone needing the chapter and verse. Enjoy!
