The short wheel base and long wheel base Tourneo Custom differ only in the amount of additional luggage space on offer behind the rear seats and at 5.34 metres is still a reasonable length to parallel park.
When looking for somewhere to park, the Tourneo Custom will also fit in a multi storey car parks as it is less than two metres tall.
Access is easy with side loading doors at each side and running boards help occupants inside and the tailgate at the rear helps when loading up in the rain, (or picnicking at Ascot).
Ford have used their car making expertise to make the feel of the inside as car-like as possible, as well as loading the Tourneo with the technology more commonly found on top spec cars.
Flexibility is maximised by the two rear rows of seats that can fold or be removed to create more space for the remaining occupants. Ford claim that there are thirty different configurations of seating – we’ll take their word for it.
In addition to the standard trim levels, the Tourneo Custom can be specified as a Trend version or the range-topping Limited variant.
The Tourneo Custom was the first vehicle in the class to achieve a five-star rating at Euro NCAP. No mean feat for such a large vehicle. The Tourneo uses ultra-high-strength Boron steel for the first time, resulting in a strong and light body which is designed to offer high levels of crash protection.
One 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine is available with a choice of three power outputs at 100 PS, 125 PS and 155 PS. For optimum fuel economy, the Tourneo features a six-speed manual transmission and standard Auto-Start-Stop, resulting in 43.5 mpg and 172 g/km CO2.
