The Ford Transit has long been the mainstay of the LCV market. An old ad campaign used to call it the 'backbone of Britain', and when it comes to vans they are probably not far wrong. Econetic models will come with the now familiar speed limiter and stop-start technologies, and these see fuel economy increase over the old model to around 44mpg. The Transit 350 L2 H3 125 comes with a choice of two roof heights and three lengths, and load spaces range from 9.5 up to 15.1 cubic metres. There is also a wide range of factory body types, including box vans, chassis cabs, mini-buses and Lutons. Trim levels offer a choice between Base and Trend, with both offering electronic stability control. Those who opt for the Trend trim will get cruise control, leather trim on the steering wheel, fog lamps, heated windscreen and Ford's emergency assistance Sync system.

The Transit 350 L2 H3 125 has 11% more usable load space than the model it replaces. It also has bigger sliding doors, making it easier to load the van with a forklift. Ford has also looked carefully at running costs, and the service interval on the Transit is now 30,000 miles or two years. Total time spent in the garage over 90,000 miles has also been reduced to 4.2 hours from 5.4 hours.
