Iveco Daily Van
The current generation Daily has been voted Van of the Year by the experts, and when you look at its spec sheet and sales figures it is easy to see why.
There are thousands of different configurations available for this range straight out of the factory, giving buyers a lot of leeway in terms of the features that are on board. And the underlying architecture of the Daily has been fully redesigned to optimise cargo area, payload capacities and drivability.
The smallest of the bunch has a space of just over seven cubic metres available in the rear, while the largest model boasts 19.6 cubic metres of room. Loading and unloading are made easier thanks to the lower height of the platform, while the rear-wheel-drive power train does a great job of applying the torque generated by the engine and transmission system.
With an unladen weight of only 2050kg, the Daily Van is lighter than almost all of its contemporaries. And the seven tonne model can accommodate payloads of more than 4000kg, showing the scope of what the range has to offer.
A variety of engines which develop from 106hp to 205hp are on offer, as well as Iveco’s impressive HI-MATIC gearbox, which gives you eight speeds, automatic shifting and perhaps the smoothest operation on a transmission of this kind that van drivers can experience. Great for low-speed manoeuvres and high-speed motorway journeys, this is a valuable technology for the Daily range as a whole. And with fuel savings of up to 5.5 per cent, the economy is unquestionable.
Iveco Daily Chassis Cab
The Chassis Cab version of the Daily van is just as strong and light as its panelled equivalent but has the added bonus of being fully adaptable so that a selection of practical bodies can be added.
Internally, the dashboard layout has been revised to make it simpler to use. And with five compartments dotted around the cab there will always be a place to stow personal items and important documents. Three cupholders ensure that the driver and passengers can keep their drinks close to hand, while holders for electronic devices such as mobile phones are also included for added convenience.
Single- and twin-wheel Daily Chassis Cab vans are on offer, with wheelbases stretching from 3000mm to 4750mm. Quad-leaf front suspension improves the handling and ride quality by a significant degree, while a 10.5 metre turning circle means that it is perfect for picking up and distributing delivery items on urban roads where regular manoeuvring will be necessary.
With all the options that are available when buying a new Iveco Daily van, it is necessary for used buyers to pay particular attention to what is available on the second-hand options they investigate.
