Discontinued in September 2013, the Vario was replaced by heavier versions of the Sprinter. Mercedes-Benz had to invest too much in their long-running Vario model in order to keep up with emissions standards.
Plated at 7.5 tonnes GVW it is as much a truck as a van, but has been well regarded in many applications worldwide.
The engine can be worked on in the Vario without having to tip up the cab, as you would in a traditional 7.5 tonner - this makes it perfect for parcel delivery or conversion to a horsebox or camper van, where the cab and load area can become one.
It is still the biggest panel van on the market with over 17m3 of loadspace available, even after 15 years of production.
