About Nissan NV400

Nissan

The biggest van that Nissan produces, the NV400 is a close relative of the Renault Master and Vauxhall Movano, with all of them having been part of the same platform-sharing arrangement between their manufacturers. The NV400, therefore, has the same wide range of choices from front and rear drive, three wheelbases, three heights, five engine types and four body lengths. It’s available as a crew van with a second row of seating, and there are numerous conversions such as box vans, tippers, refrigerators and minibuses on offer too.

About Nissan NV400

Nissan

There’s a choice of five 2.3 litre diesel engines in the NV400 with six-speed manual gearboxes. Power ranges from 109bhp to 163bhp. There’s the option of a six-speed semi-automatic on 148bhp rear-drive versions only. Some models have stop-start systems to improve economy and lower emissions too. Front-drive models offer up to 42mpg fuel economy, with the rear-drive versions delivering between 35mpg and 39mpg. Oil and filter changes are at two years or up to 40,000 miles, which should help keep running costs in check. The Nissan also has a five-year or 100,000-mile warranty to add peace of mind.

Two levels of trim are available. The basic E comes with ABS with electronic brake force distribution and stability control which automatically compensates for loaded and unloaded states. It also has remote locking, an immobiliser, and a radio with Bluetooth. The SE version adds some extra luxury touches such as parking sensors, cruise control and a CD player. There are a number of option packs on offer for the NV400 which include things such as a sat nav, metallic paint and air-conditioning.

NV400

The choice of different bodies on offer means that NV400 load volumes vary from eight up to 17 cubic metres. The box van conversion approved by Nissan offers an impressive 22 cubic metres. Long-wheelbase NV400s can carry objects up to 4.4 metres in length. Panel van versions have a full steel bulkhead to separate the cab from the load area and come with solid rear doors. A glazing pack is available as an extra which adds windows to the doors and bulkhead plus a rear wash-wipe system.

A single sliding side door - wide enough to load a pallet - is standard, with a second door available as an option. Other loading options include an aluminium roof rack and a ladder for the rear doors. The NV400 has a towing capacity of between 2.5 and three tonnes depending on the model.

For the driver there’s a comfortable cab with a clear view of the road ahead from a commanding driving position. The cab has lots of cubby holes and storage pockets to store odds and ends, and SE versions have double front-door pockets. The SE also gives you electric windows and mirrors, rear parking sensors, cruise control, a trip computer, a driver’s armrest and a folding central seat with built-in computer table, making for an impressive standard specification. The sat nav in SE versions is mounted above the rear-view mirror, making it easy to access and see.
