New Features Added to Special Edition of VW Caddy

The VW Caddy Black Edition

The VW Caddy Black Edition

The compact VW Caddy van is a good option in its standard form, but now a new Black Edition has been launched to give buyers even more reason to consider looking into the range, according to Auto Express.

As the name suggests, this Caddy will come with a black paint job while also having £2,000 worth of extra kit which is bundled together for just £800 more than the Highline spec. So as well as being a fairly exclusive van, it will also represent good value for money at this end of the market.

The deeply pearlescent exterior colour is matched by all other elements on the outside, including the bumpers, wing mirrors and even the rails on the roof. The van's stylish 17-inch alloys have their share of black detailing, while the Black Edition has a lower-slung look to it than its standard siblings, making it seem sportier than it actually is on paper.

The Specifications

Under the bonnet lurks a 2.0 litre turbo-diesel engine which develops an acceptable if uninspiring 101bhp. But what it lacks in power it more than makes up for in efficiency, as VW’s official figures claim that this Caddy can cover 60.1 miles for every gallon of fuel it burns. With 123 grams of carbon dioxide emitted per kilometre, it is also less polluting than some older vans.

The Caddy Black Edition is just as spacious as its stable mates, with a load volume of 3200 litres available in the back, along with a full-height bulk head to keep drivers and passengers safe. Payloads of up to 628 kilograms can be carried around in this LCV, which is currently the smallest on offer from this German automaker.

As you would expect with a premium van, the Caddy Black Edition comes with a few bells and whistles in the cab, including a digital radio, air con, cruise control and more. Standard safety features are also impressive, with a dedicated alertness system helping to detect when the driver is too fatigued so that they can be reminded to take a rest and avoid causing accidents.

Only 500 Available

Anyone hoping to get their hands on this limited-edition Caddy will need to act fast when it goes on sale, as VW has confirmed its plans to offer a run of just 500 units, which should be snapped up quickly. The UK price for this model will be just under £19,400, and VAT will also have to be factored into the total cost of ownership.

The Caddy range not only includes standard panel vans but also larger Maxi and Maxi Kombi models which offer glass windows in the rear, additional seating and a host of other useful features. There is a BlueMotion model designed to cater to the needs of those who expect optimal efficiency and eco-friendliness, as well as the Caddy Life MPV, which is intended to carry passengers and can be appropriate for use as a prestigious mini cab in the UK.
